At least, Commodore offered something like Gold Service. Very few PC manufacturers offered similarly well endowed warranties (get a replacement PC clone via FedEX next-day air? I don't think so). Yes, C= is in the midst of a retrenchment (or, perhaps, revanchment) but the equivalent of Gold Service is still available, albeit from a third party (the outfit whose name I forget, and which has taken over all Amiga tech support, repairs and service).
