Joe; ALR is advanced logic research and they make IBM clones. In this case I was comparing cost/capabilities of a 386 clone to an Amiga 2000. Graphics are a pretty complex area. Video confuses people even more. If you are doing video work at home, an amiga is an apt choice. If you do it for a living, you seriously have to evaluate your needs and the market for your work before you choose a system. When I jumped into this thread it was originally to disagree with the way that the Amiga is represented by some people in this forum concerning its capabilities and its ability to compete w/ certain other systems, both in cost and in usefulness as well as outright performance. I love my very early Amiga 1000 and I remember when the Amiga was only a semi-mystical rumor in the trade. In fact I recommend amiga to many people, but I also don't like to see them misled or disappointed, so I try to accurately present its capabilities. As far as Unix and some of the other recommendations,They are probably necessary developments if the Amiga is ever to become a serious contender in higher level graphics. J.K.
