Exabyte told me at the time that the problem was that the controller card was
looking for a 512 byteblock and that the device I had had firmware for a 1024.
They also informed me that the firmware was in Beta, and no release date on the
version firmware. This makes sense since it never got far enough into the boot
cycle to read the drive and the ASPI manager software. This was stricly a
hardware problem!
The physical drive that I had was sold with it's own controller card, which
probably prevented the problem if I used their card. I have a host adapter
running the HD and the CD-ROM and it made no sense to add an adapter card with
plenty of room on the SCSI chain.
Add that to the fact that it is a reworked Everex design and I returned it! I
went up and now have a Connor/Archive/Maynard Python 4mm DAT. It works with
the downloaded Always 12.8 and with NT.
Thanks,
Barry
