Marshall, If you read the posted apology you will understand the tardiness of my response. The 1542c had a termination problem associated with it. The problem would be more pronounced if the cable was sub-standard ( less than 90-132 Ohms impedance). This problem was found and rectified in there 1542c revision D controllers. There is no longer a problem with the controller. It works well. If you have have revision a,b,c without a modification on the rear of the board I would call Adaptec. If you have a revision C card with a physical modification on the rear of the board or revision D you are ok. The revision number can be found on the rear of the board along the top edge.
