I agree with you. People down on CD32 should think it through.
Commodore could make more money PER UNIT selling A1200s or even
better A4000s, but they're trying to move volume, which is good for
the platform. More users equals more software buyers, and CD32 equals
CD-ROM versions of Amiga software, which rebounds to the benefit of
the existing software base and probably protects developers against
rampant piracy. It's a win-win. Now, if I were in Wayne's shoes, I
definitely would be unhappy. Reality, though, is that Commodore has
got to make some money fast to please its creditors. It's downsized
the company because it had to, and no doubt there were some lousy
choices made. But I wouldn't presume C= has had much latitude at this
point; their creditors are probably holding sway. And if we think
about THAT, this all may be a good thing in the long run, since Irv
and Ali and all the other top dogs are now taking orders, not just
