Tel: (703) 713-0900 eMail: richard.houstoun@scala.com For Release: January 24, 1995 Fifth Generation for the Amiga Scala InfoChannel IC500 Adds Drawing Tools, Improved Image Processing and Networking WASHINGTON, DC, January 24, 1995 – Scala's InfoChannel IC500 adds image processing power, support for additional file formats, drawing tools, a file requester shuffler, log maintenance and invoicing. Scala Inc. today announced the first customer shipments of IC500 and the availability of upgrades from InfoChannel version IC403. Current InfoChannel users may obtain IC500 upgrades for $800 per Master and $200 per Player from their authorized InfoChannel dealer. Suggested retail price for the software is $2,500 per Master and $800 per Player. InfoChannel operates on any Commodore Amiga computer with 4MB RAM, a hard drive, ECS or AGA chip set and Workbench 2.04 or higher. Scala customers who purchased InfoChannel IC403 after August 15, 1994 will be upgraded free of charge. InfoChannel IC500's new image processing features include SnapFiles, which automatically saves graphics that are resized, cropped or remapped so they load instantly during presentations; optimize palette; fast preview of 24-bit pictures; and resizing and cropping of brushes. IC 500 supports additional file formats such as GIF, BMP, TIFF, and FLC. ScalaNet, Scala's proprietary networking software, incorporates intelligent file transfer technology with improved logging and remote maintenance of Players. With the new log function, InfoChannel can easily track valuable advertising data and set up the advertiser billing periods and terms with the new invoice function, ScalaInvoice. As with all Scala products, InfoChannel IC500 utilizes the HumanTouch graphical user interface and Lingua scripting language to deliver full powered multimedia that is easy to use. Scala develops and markets computer-based television information solutions. Available in ten languages, Scala's multimedia tools are used by more than 45,000 customers in more than 40 countries.
