now that's an interesting experience. 🙂 my first experience with word was on the macintosh, and there i thought it was overloaded and slow (funny thing seeing it scroll very slowly on a IIci). when i saw the windows version, i thought the same thing except that the keyboard commands were even worse. the only thing i like about it was the forumla editor. i have to admit that is very nice. i probably had a different experience because i do not use my computer for business. i still do not know what a spreadsheet is really useful for! 🙂 and i took a class on it! 🙂 if i have to do math, i grab my HP-48SX and punch numbers. graphs are nice, and procalc does a nice job in that dept. i have to admit that procomm plus is a nice program, but I still like Term better. 🙂 and yes, any text based amiga word pro bites. i have not seen one yet that i have not hated on first sight. in fact, i still have yet to see an editor that i like better than MicroEmacs. the all are fairly good, but they all lack one feature or another. yes, 1.44MB do pack a lot of stuff. 1.76MB pack a little more stuff though. 🙂 i only put my sys partition on to floppies for backup. my work drive is too big for me to sit for the hour it would take. i can not see any dos user backing up 200mb onto floppies. 🙂 i use a tape drive to backup the bbs. how many new users really backup? i've seen a few offices that do not know what the word means. 🙂 you are right, the amiga is a bad business machine. most home users do not need a business machine and it is a shame that the idea of the home computer is dead. the only way to really use an amiga in business is to put in an emulator card. sure there are ibm's marketed at the home user, but these are quite limited and most users will find that out quickly (esp if they have kids who wanna play wing commander <g>). the 386SX's owners that i know all complain about the slow speed of windows. 🙂 i do not know how the "486SLC" bridgeboard handles windows though. it's not my biggest concern since i would only run windows when i needed it. now if i want serious horsepower programs, all i have to do is walk down to my store and grab a macintosh program such as word or wp (i like my amax <g>). i probably won't since they are over priced imho and not worth it for that one little feature i might need. i've gone through all the pains of buying a basic computer and then have to go through the pains of upgrading it to keep up with the software. that has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, and i have disliked the ms-dos world ever since. bob
