#Modem/Software
Hi Michael. I think I may be doing something dumb, or, I may have a problem
with old software/new modem. Anyway, I would appreciate some help. I have been
using an Avatex 2400 (& am now back with it) but bought a USRobotics Sportster
14.4. Straight out of the box it worked with CIS at 2400baud, and after
resetting Baud Bandit 2 (by Greg Cunningham of Practical Peripherals) to
various high baud rates and talking to a friend who has the same modem, all was
well at both 14.4 and 2400 baud. After that, I was not able to connect to CIS.
I could get as far as"CONNECT 2400", but after that garbage. Using 215 665
0360, I can use CIS at 14.4K but cannot upload a message. After choosing 5
(upload) and CIS asks for a file name I which I enter, I just get
B+AAAAHHHHAAAAetc, no upload and am taken back to the previous menu. I have an
A4000-40 with 12meg. Using F7E1. I have reloaded the software and have tried
various baud rates in the Amiga preferences, including setting that to the same
baud rate as between the modems. Can't figure whether Baud Bandit2 allows a
different baud rate between the computer and Modem to that output by the modem.
Can't contact Practical Peripherals anymore and don't know where the fault is.
Any ideas? ps. The Sportster still works well with my friend, but it seems to
me that the upload problem is with not sending out the proper code for B+. Are
you familiar with Baud Bandit2 or do you know anyone that is? Up to this time,
I have liked the program.r
