I didn't attempt to become the student union entertainment director in my college days, I became the Music Director of the radio station. It was cool to get the new vinyl and check it out before anyone else. Punk and New Wave were more to my liking but ska had it all. I painted the Two Tone record label across all of the walls of my dorm room. If I had to explain what it was to anyone I knew they weren't into my kind of music. I've gotten quite selective on the shows I'm willing to go to. The venue is very important as it could mean the difference between being crushed to death or total enjoyment. One or two shows a month is all I hit now. Recently the Barenaked Ladies, John Wesley Harding, They Might Be Giants and Joe Jackson in a couple of weeks are shows that are worth the outing. I might even go for Black 47 but it'll be the venue which determines if I'll go.
