But you never had an audience as big as the ones you had at SIGGRAPH. Man, I pop back in to the forum after a couple of days rest and you guys are going on about how hot and humid New Orleans is in the summer. I didn't even recognize the thread. You would think that the "dealer's dilemna" is where to spend his summer vacation with all of this talk about the weather. IT AIN'T THE HEAT IT'S THE HUMIDITY!!!!! There I said it. <BG> How many times has a yat used the above phrase in explaining to an out-of-towner why we quaff down so many Hurricanes and Mint Juleps? <G> For those looking in, who are unfamiliar with the term, a "yat" is a native New Orleanian, most often from a neighborhood known as the Ninth Ward. The term is derived from a greeting they are fond of using. It goes, "Where Y'at? Dahlin." ( Jeremy, I'd have to give Foust some leeway on the Nahlins / N'awlins thing. ) The Mint Juleps are a southern tradition dating back before air conditioners. But talk about working up a sweat. You were definitely doing that and more out on the dance floor in Orlando. I don't know who had the funkier moves, you or Dennis Phinney, but Marcella and I sure gave you a run for the title. I hadn't seen anybody work up a sweat on the dance floor like you since Cy Lum went to town after the Adesk Gathering at SIGGRAPH `93 in Anaheim. He, I and Karl Raade and friend caught a cab and went club hopping. In addition to being an incredible animator, Cy is a bezerkoid dancer. You remember Cy. Some of his fantastic stuff was on the `93 reel. Jim Coulter and I have been kicking names around for animation companies. Cy has a good one. It's a great play on his name. A_CY_LUM Graphics. His logo featured an image of a PC gone crazy. He did some work for Crystal Dynamics out there in Palo Alto. At SIGGRAPH in Orlando several people asked me, "where did Cy run off to?" Well, he recently landed in Austin, the town where I was first introduced to Autodesk and founded Animation Nation. Cy now serves as director of Iguana Entertainment's Advanced Technology Department. Iguana is a game company with titles that include "NBA Jam," "Aero the Acrobat" and "NFL Quarterback." BTW Iguana is running a full page ad in this month's Animation Magazine looking for 3D Artists with experience in 3D Studio. I've been following you Dealer Demo thread and I'm getting ready to clock in with my two cents. I was fortunate to have attended a couple of the seminars you put on in New Orleans. I can testify. You're a lucky guy to have landed where you now are. What ever happened to that skyline of New Orleans you were working on and the Lakefront Airport. I heard it was some impressive stuff. But I never got a chance to see it. Are you working on Animator Studio with Jim Kent and Mark Gerhardt? Would you consider this old Animator Pro expert as a Beta resource? I'd really like to offer my input. I've got a few interactive kiosks under my belt done completely with Animator Pro and it's own scripting language up and running out at the Entergy Waterford 3 Nuclear Power Plant Education Center. Now, what were we talkin' bout. Oh yeah. The weather…. Sure is hot.
