I think that Windows must absorb some resources so that you can't get smooth
playback, and that's why you're looking at DOS?
Sound cards usually have a DOS 320×200 player that might help. Higher
resolutions, particularly when you have a lot of movement from frame to frame
(like walking through a room) are hard to play on a computer, so if you can use
320×200 you might get usable results.
If you can get AAPLHI.ZIP or PLAY80.ZIP to work, that would output just the
video (higher than 320×200). Can you then add sound separately?
