#OS/2
I have been using QuickBooks (DOS) with OS/2 for over two years, no significant
problems, it's one of those rare software packages, it just works as advertised
and as expected.
Since Microsoft acquired, and as a result of the reported incompatibilities
between the most recent version of Quicken (Win) and OS/2 I have been concerned
that the Microsoft/Intuit would either eliminate the DOS version of QuickBooks
and/or render QuickBooks (Win) incompatible with OS/2.
So when I received the recent "offering letter" to "upgrade" to QuickBooks 3.0
I was not too surprised to find that there would be no further development of
the DOS version. However, when I called the order line to find out if this new
version would work with OS/2 I was (eventually) advised that "… QuickBooks
3.0 will not work with IBM's OS/2."
It really is too bad, obviously, users are being told what platform they will
need if they want to continue to use your products.
