Paul Although not a PP board, I had the very similar problems with the A3640 68040 25mhz board. installed in a stock 16mhz A3000. "Checksum error xxxx on volume Workbench" was the most common error. I isolated the problem to a confict between Static Column mode Zips and the A3000 internal SCSI adapter and the A3640 board. I resolved the problem by replacing just the first (U852) Zip socket with a PAGE MODE Zip, (which causes the system to recognize all FASTRAM in Page Mode). This resolved such errors (several months now), although at somewhat slower operation than possible if FASTRAM were Static Column Mode. I was told that the "burst mode" memory functions of the 68040 processor were the source of conflict for the A3000 SCSI CheckSum Disk Error gobblity-gook and that because Page mode memory effectivly disabled "burst mode" , it resolved my problem. I do not know if this applies in your case, but this was my experience. Also, the speed increase was, for me, significant. Oh, and I also have a Retina ZIII in this A3000. Good Luck, ************** Charlie McCann 70107,1506
