WOW!! Great Info and insight into the thinking of an architect. Thanks!!!
>>2. PERCEIVED time. Architects assume this stuff takes way too long.
You just have to tailor the visualization techniques to the particular
job/schedule, but I still think that on almost any job there is a place for
some sort or computer generated visualization/design aid.
>>3. Modelling takes time and may not be necessary. If the old design process
did not used to include detailed study models then the current process is not
likely to include computer models. In other words, if you design in 2D you
don't need 3D.>>
Yeah, we may not, since we work with construction drawings every day.
But the client sure does, not too many of them can really comprehend
easily the info in a cross-section presents, or know what a framing
plan shows, and some even have trouble with floor plans and
elevations. So, my whole point is that this is a tool architects can
use to insure the owner is getting what he/she really wants, and
doesn't go out on the job site months later and say "I don't like
that. I didn't know it would look like that, can we change this,
and…".
>>Architects make precious little profit
Not the ones I know<g>.
>>I look forward to an enlightening thread. Hope everyone puts their $.02 in.
