If you have the external one, you can play audio CDs on it while you work! (BTW, I have the last version of the Xetec ROM driver software before they went belly-up, and their software took less space, operated faster, and had a better audio-CD player interface than ASIms does.). Anyway, there are other uses. If you do DTP/MM/DTV, there are lots of backgrounds, clip-art, Fonts etc on CDRom all excessible with Xetec or ASim CDFS. If you have the external model you can run the audio out to a mixer or digitizer and get digital sound files to mess with. (My primary business use is to copy and edit tracks from the production music library CD's I have for playback from the AD516 during a video edit session – laying down the audio track with frame accuracy.) Then there are the 'save your butt' PD collection – Fish and AmiNet CDRoms. If you have trouble figuring out what to do with it decide you'd rather have the desk space back, you can send it to me – it'll be good company for my 3401. :^} wmc – via Autopilot!
