I spoke with Side Effects today and I think I will stay with Alias for the time being. I am just gettting started with an SGI Indy and I am not doing character animation. PRISMS is a full blown package which is comparable to Alias's Power Animator. I am going to start out with Alias Animator, to get my feet wet so to speak. If I ever grow into the need for a higher level, I'll definitely look into PRISMS. I was quoted 30K Canadian for the package which seems to include everything, motion control, effects, etc. While there is a yearly service fee, I was told there is no charge for further upgrades. The sales rep I talked to thought that at my level Alias animator was the way to go. I appreciated the advice and it has left me with a very positive atitude towards the company.
