Here is one PAR user already from asoft. Well I think there is nothing like it, it is a great tool, and with more support on the way for this card, like RAZOR Pro, sound, etc…. This card is ideal for animation not only for professional previews but for output in a lot of cases to, I know of some TV adds done with the PAR for Amiga here in Belgium. The PAR for PC I have been using it for 3 weeks mostly for architecture, and for logo's and output quality is very good. I get for PAL a compression ratio of less then 1/10 which is considered to be about as good as BetacamSP quality. The NTSC version does need a little more compression. In most cases you will never notice compression. Sometimes you can see a kind of dithering in dark shadow areas, but thats when you look at a still, you can not notice it an animation. The big advantage of the PAR is as harddisks become faster the quality of animation output increases, because you need less compression. I followed discussions about differentsimilar products in asoft forum and saw some, price/quality compared none can rival the PAR Matrox Studio nearly cost times more, Targa2000 has not yet component out but it is coming, but then it will cost at least double (also this last card is more multimedia oriented). The FAST Videomachine also cost much more and has less support. BTW you can compare PAR output to be better than Targ+32 Framebuffer frame by frame. And to be about as good as an ATvista Framebuffer. I certainly am very pleased with my PAR. Christophe Van Oyen Archimago-Belgium
