Full Motion Video
Hi; New to this forum I would like to try you all for a *big* question for me.
I produce videotapes from consumer VHS tapes using an SVHS Panasonic analog
studio. The quality of the VHS source tapes is often poor, and this can't be
helped; but it necessitates me trying to limit image quality loss.
Caveat two is that the finished product can allow for no more than about $75
total costs to me for editing. SGI Workstation is out (I assume); although I'm
not terrible familiar with costs.
My question is: Does anyone have a suggestion for me re: PC based editing(or I
would consider another platform if other things worked out: price, options
etc.). Can I capture 1/2 inch images on my PC, edit and add visual and audio
effects, and spit it back out onto a VHS tape with less than 5% image loss and
full frame, full motion? Am I dreaming? What about DCI and the new 128 bit
vid boards I see advertised?
Thanks for *all* opinions.
