#Particle FX
Kevin,
I'm using render24 with -a-p-v set. It may be the Novell Network that is
slowing it down, last night it was 9 minutes per frame, today its 58 minutes!
All of the files are residing on the file server that is serving 24 HEAVY users
along with about 12 print queues, which usually are printing @ 50 megs files to
the Linotronics or the Dye-Sub printers.
My MIS manager is trying to get me a Pentium 90 and my own zone, that should
help. I'm certainly not complaining about A:Ms speed, because, like I said, on
the PowerMac 8100 (my main machine), its about 1 minute per frame. The PCs are
just for rendering/modeming so I really don't care about them being tied up.
>>Steve said he's sending the tapes!<<
Great! I can't wait to see the reaction from "Rod's Head" and "Balls and
Blocks" (Along with Frankenstein, HammerTime……..).
Randy Croucher just helped me out with figure substitution! What a POWERFULL
FEATURE. This is a BIG plus that should be explained a little better with a
tutorial and mentioned clearly in the advertising! It's actually easy to do AND
makes compound motion much simpler.
Have you experimented with it yet?
See ya tomorrow at the meeting,
Jim Jonah
