#3D Modeling Software
Thanks for the informative reply. From all the information I have gathered, it
appears that the program is DEFINATELY one of the most powerful in the market
(a quick glance at the comparisons made in the September issue of Multimedia
magazine shows this rather clearly). The interface issue is an important one
though, as it effects the "enjoyment" of using the program (I got a little
frustrated with 2.0, and I'm a VERY experience PC user and programmer). Did the
2.0 version included in 3D Modeling Lab book have some bugs in it? There are
things I can't get to work the way it was described in the book.
Also, I'm mainly interested in animation for games (i.e. low-res, 256 color
with great animation features). Not having sufficient documentation, it's hard
to tell the quality of the animation features in Imagine, such as inverse
kinematics, acceleration, skeletal control, collision detection, etc. Also,
Imagine doesn't seem to support backround image imports, which would be a MAJOR
drag.
I'm leaning at this point between Imagine or Animation Master (I don't think I
can wait until December for Lightwave). I don't think I can go wrong with
either, but I'd feel more comfortable purchasing Imagine if I knew that the
program would be looking to be ported to Windows 4.0 in early 1995 with a
revised interface. Sure would hate to be stuck with a DOS program in the 1st
quarter or 1995.
Thanks again for the help!!
Regards,
Tony
