The smoke that is engulfing the figure started as a cylinder with many
cross-sections. I scaled each cross-section individually to encompass the
figure. I then applied the FILTER NOIZE2 texture to filter out parts of the
white colored cylinder. Simple, yet elegant looking smoke.
The smoke or mist in the background and crawling on the ground is a fog object
with the COLOR NOIZE2 texture applied to it. I used it to color the fog to
change it's apparent density. The fog object is solid white in color. The
colornoize texture then applied patches varying from black to white. The black
patches make the fog look thinner where it's applied, and the white thicker.
Glad you enjoyed the image. Yes, all the textures in that image except for the
bricks are procedural textures from Imagine 3.0
