Welcome!
Elastic Reality began life as a Silicon Graphics product. A reduced function
version was ported to Macintosh shortly thereafter. The SGI product has become
continually refined and the Windows product is similar to our most recent SGI
offering.
The VALIS product is very good but its scope and utility is more narrowly
defined than Elastic Reality. While it is shape based, my understanding is that
you have only a single shape at any given time and cannot tweak a shape once it
is drawn. In Elastic Reality, you can have arbitrarily many shapes and can fine
tune each at any time.
Elastic Reality for Windows is, in my opinion, a considerably more powerful
tool because it does so many things so well. The VALIS product, again in my
opinion, is more narrowly defined as being good for warping with some
compositing.
Thanks for rooting for us…it's great to have our section open.
