15 min per frame, or 15 min per page? (ie: 4 frames/page)
Thanks for the compliments on the ShaBLAMM! article! I have to admit to
being a little concerned with these guys, since they STILL have as yet to
ship the 133MHz model (They've been promising to sell me one for the last
2 months now. Everytime I ask, they say it'll be "about 3 weeks"!)
The nicest thing about the board is that it will plug into most existing
VESA Local Bus machines, so if you've got one of those, it's an easy
upgrade.
As for the 'whiz kids' at your workplace that couldn't get a CD-ROM, GB
HD, and OS/2 WARP to work………Well, I don't know what to say, but my
experiences with PCs in the last 6 months have proven that you can
configure any system, as long as you read the instructions, and have the
latest drivers.
Frankly, I think most of these self-proclaimed 'whiz kids' need to do less
whining and more reading. If they're too stupid to assemble the pieces,
then they could just go out and buy one of the DOZENS of complete systems
that come completely pre-assembled and ready to plug-in! (I will add one
qualifier: this is only true of systems/motherboards purchased in the last
few years. Any 386 or 286 system is, for all intents and purposes, an
obsolete system, and should be totally gutted.)
Having lived in the heart of Mac country for the last 6 years, all too
often I see the PC given the same treatment the Amiga got (back when you
could mention Amiga in a conversation w/o having to detail the last 9
months of financial limbo.)
People, out of a desire to justify their own investment, will focus on the
weaknesses of a system, and totally ignore the steps that have been taken
to remedy specific problems.
In closing, let me say that I like Windows, Mac, AND AmigaDOS. I think
they all do certain things very well. There are also problems with all
three operating systems. I haven't tried OS/2, since one orphaned OS
(AmigaDOS) is enough for me right now.
'Do us mortals have a chance?' Yes, and it's called Compaq, Gateway, Mac,
etc. There are existing plug-n-play solutions for anyone. You just have to
look at the right tool, and make the right investment.
