Dan, I've heard of Autodesk's student prices for 3D Studio, but the one thing I've always wondered about is how do they know who's using what? I was under the impression that the student version had the same output as the full commercial version and that it had the same features. Since you've got less invested in software than a buseness user, what's to stop you from doing commercial work and charging less? Considering the number of people on the Internet asking about the 'invalid normal array' (pirated copy, bad dongle hack) I can't believe Autodesk is willing to trust people when they say they're not going to do paying jobs.
