I've used it quite a bit. I think it does just what it says it will do. It's
immensly easier if you use Hyperspace instead of the lowball quickie software
included with the digitizer. However, modeling with it can be just as tedious
as any other method. The main problem with hand digitizers is the fact that you
must digitize every vertice. That means that a 5000 vert. mesh, though
relatively low-res, will require you to press the button 5000 times. You have
to first carefully clamp the object down thoroughly and it helps if you
predefine a "game plan" for your digitization (often one will see grid lines
drawn on an object to aid this). In sum, if you want to do, say, a sculpted
face, count on at least 2 days of solid work for setup, digitization, and
post-dig. mesh cleanup for a mesh with enough resolution to recognize the face.
It's never easy, is it?!
I know a dealer with a used one for sale pretty cheap, including the Hyperspace
software. If you want to call him, send me a post.
