#1200 baud modems
Howdy folks…
Interested in picking up some inexpensively priced modems? Here's the deal…
We received flyer at work listing some closeout deals, including a bunch of
modems. Among the list is the Rixon 212A, which is a _very_ nice modem. We've
had one at work for years; it does Hayes, plus a Rixon menu-driven mode
(sorta), plus has a ten entry autodialer directory. We've had no problems with
it at all (knock wood). Steve tells me he has one and is happy with it as
well.
Now these folks are willing to sell them for $95, or $75 in quantity ten, and
we have six people locally interested. I thought I'd toss it up for discussion
to see if any folks here wanted in on the deal.
Understand, this whole thing is _not_ firmed up. I need to call them and
verify we're talking about the same modem, find out what kind of warranty they
will provide, see how many they have left, that sort of thing. Realize too,
that most likely these are off-lease (read _used_) modems; ours here at work
was purchased off-lease from a rental company as well. Still, if you are like
me, you are looking for a dirt-cheap 300/1200 baud modem to tide you over until
the 2400 baud modems drop to a reasonable level; under those circumstances this
might be just the ticket.
If you're interested reply to this thread and let's chat about it. Oh, and for
those of you looking for the absolute lowest price on a 2400 baud modem…
Concord Technology in Canada is currently offering a (Taiwanese) 2400 baud
Hayes clone for $229, which is the best price I've seen yet. If anyone is
interested I'll pass on further details. No idea as to quality or such.
Talk to me!
