George, My A-Time works (or fails) in exactly the same manner: if my printer
is on when I boot, then I get a warning that A-Time is not set or something to
that effect. I read-rtc from my startup-sequence and this is when the problem
occurs. I always make sure my printer (IBM PC Gaphics Printer with homemade
cable) is off before booting. I'll check my cable to confirm the previous reply
(from?) which said something about the init pin being connected.
