#New Modula-2 Release
This is to announce our forthcoming Modula-2 release for the 1.2 workbench. Any
users that have purchased our current system after December 1 will be able to
upgrade for the cost of diskettes and shipping. We anticipate shipments at the
end of December. Registered users will be notified by mail within the next 2
weeks. Please wait for the mail and do not swamp us with calls.
The new features include: LONGREALS, no heap restrictions (compile much larger
programs), no data size restrictions (arrays may be larger than 32K), no
compiler overlays (can compile multiple modules without exiting compiler),
smaller compiler size (160K), a full screen editor linked to the compiler to
replace M2Error, compiler options to allow underscores and disable case
sensitivity, procedure size limit is increased to 10K from 4K, arrays may be
passed as value parameters, ability to break out of compiles and links, full
1.2 support, startup example for workbench and cli, The IFF and ILBM modules
now work and have several demonstration programs in the developer's version.
In essence, almost anything users have requested has been added along with
numerous bug fixes.
GRID, the engine to a relational database, will also begin shipments in late
December. With this module a user may access variable length records by
variable length strings. Records are sorted automatically and may be scanned
in forward or reverse order.
The source code to the Amiga full screen editor will be available as a separate
product. Regards, Les
