A2000 purchase
I'm in the process of looking for an Amiga 2000 so I've been reading this
forum for awhile. The diversity of opinion has me more confused than ever so I
thought I might as well ask directly and see if I can get some good advice.
First, I'd like to use the Amiga for two things:
A) some heavy duty video work….as close as I can get to a cubicomp,
A-D-O, paintbox, etc. ….in short I'd like to be able to bring in video, work
it over, perform effects, build stopframe animation, etc.
B) be capable of serious desktop publishing when I purchase a laser
printer.
Specific questions include: 1) I've read hear Commodore is going to start
selling A2000's directly after thebeginning of the year. I teach so might be
able to get an educational discount. Is it better to buy this year or wait and
get it directly from commodore? 2) How do I need the machine configured to get
the graphics I want? How much memory….3 meg ram and 20 or 40 meg hard? Will
this new Meminx (I think) board with two million colors and frame grab, etc.
give me what I want? Will it ever be released? 3) What kind of software do I
need for animation (to create and run a S-VHS VCR or 3/4-tape machine? What
kind for character generation? What kind for effects? Can I use them with real
video as in an A-D-O (for you video folks out there)?
And, of course, the biggie. What do I need to spend for all this. I know
I'minto some serious money for a package… and is it better to buy it as a
package?
I know there are a heck of a lot of questions here but I don't trust
company reps trying to sell products that aren't out yet. You guys use all of
this.
