Steve, we have a 3090-600 dedicated to our programming staff. Max users is 700 with 500+ typical. We also run as many as 12 test CICS's, several IMS message regions, DB2, 25 batch initiators and a gaggle of other sundry software products. We occaisionally bog down but not often. Every programmer has a 3270-like terminal (3178, 3191, 3180, etc) terminal on his or her desk connected to a channel attached 3174 to provide "sub-second response" (and we often get it). Oh yes, this is all MVS/XA, VTAM/NCP, JES2, etc. We have another 3090 for production too, I forget what model it is. And our network (T1 pipes) spans the US and Canada. VM is not very welcome by management in our shop. They believe that supporting ONE operating system on a given line of CPU's. We also have countless System/36's and 2000+ Series/1's. Soon, there will be a few thounsand PC's entering the network via Token Ring LAN. Geo
