Gordon, since my EasyPlex I've talked with the last two group purchase members.
I'm extremely relieved to say that the entire order has >FINALLY< been
fulfilled. Jon Fleming was the last of the group, receiving his board about
two weeks ago. He's apparently not using CIS much any more, so didn't see my
latest queries. He called Weds. night and told me that his board was in hand
and working. Whew.
Anyway… I too can't understand how they could screw up so badly, and so
publicly. I think we were treated particularly poorly because of the deal we
got — I called up before they'd even started shipping (apparently), and got a
price which they later claimed was below their cost. Instead of delivering
quickly and thinking of it as advertising/loss leader, they obfuscated and
delayed every step of the way. I can't feel sympathetic. They shouldn't have
given such a deal if they couldn't deliver (i.e. should have known their costs
better); once they were committed they should have acted swiftly to limit their
loss to the lack of profits (or slight loss) on 13 boards, rather than letting
it sit until thousands of Amiga owners had heard terrible stories about the
company.
Two things I've learned: if the deal looks too good, IT IS, and, if you're
going to do a group purchase, USE A KNOWN REPUTABLE COMPANY!!!!!! <slapping
self> Next time, if there is a next time, I'll be dealing with someone like
SOS Computers in LA, Leigh's in NY, or Computer Attic in Palo Alto. The deal
might not be as good, but they'll >deliver<…
Best of luck with your board… I hope it works flawlessly forever, and god
forbid if you have to send it back, that the T-S black hole doesn't swallow
it… >Bela<
PS: in all fairness, after the original delivery problems, T-S has been fairly
good about warranty repair/updates. They still need work on the delivery part,
though!!
