Excuse my butting in, but the Panasonic controller is the AG-A95 (list <$400) the VHS editing deck is the AG-1950 (list $1400) and the S-VHS editing deck is the AG-1830 (don't know the list, available for about $1400). Sadly, neither of them can do singleframe recording, although they can do pretty good insert recording. The 1950 can be found for under $1000. I hope this helps.
