The Apple vs Adobe screen font question comes from printing at sites other
than your own. If you have composed your document using Apple LW font, and
print to a device that uses Adobe LW screen font, you will obtain
disasterous results. The main difference is kerning information is
contained in the Screen font, and each version is different. Second,
Choosing Bold in the apple menu when using apple LW font causes the
computer to scale the bold version; but in Adobe the bold version of that
typeface is selected i.e – B Times 9PT rather than bolding a Times 9 Pt
type. In some cases there will be little difference, in others major. Note
the problem Garamond users have when they print to a service bureau using
older version, and get type kerning problems. So specify what you are
using, and make sure the system you are printing from uses the same
typeface….or create a suitcase of your typefaces and take with you when
you go to another machine to print.
