Nicely put defense of Adobe. I think you're right on. With the pricing I've
seen on the new CG Postscript machines (which are using an Adobe-sanctioned
RIP) I think Birmy is in serious trouble. Why purchase a Birmysetter that
can't run the Adobe fonts (which whether David likes it or not are the
industry standard at the moment) when you can get a CG machine for about
the same money that will do both. Hopefully, this will force Linotype to
come down in price on their machines as well, resulting in even greater
savings for the end user.
Damn. I wish I had picked up that initial Adobe stock offering….
