I'm using an Amiga 2000 with a Haynie/ Fisher Motherboard v4.1. I have a Hardframe 2000 controller and a Miniscribe 8051S drive. When I run the Install Software, the system crashes and I get Guru # 00000004,00000000 I suspected that my controller was bad, so I returned it to Microbotics. They replaced it and 6 weeks later returned it to me. I still have the same problem. I had successfully formatted the drive once, but after using it without incident for four months, it failed. I suspect a strange virus. I had similar problems with this drive before, but by using GVP's controller and install software, I was able to do a hard format on the drive. After that, the hardframe software worked. I'm fairly confident that the drive is good. When I start the machine, the drive seems to try to mount itself, even though I have the autoboot jumper disconnected on my card. I replaced my 1.3 rom with a 1.2, but still have the same problem. Local dealers won't look at third party hardware. Argggggh! Hellllp! I am incredibly frustrated with the system. I'm almost tempted to go to the other side (I.B.M.) where I can find dealer support. Could I have a problem with my motherboard? What ascii sequence can I send my drive to initiate a hard format? I tried manually formatting the drive, but it complained that I lacked the correct device handler. I put the expansion software in the appropriate drawer and issued binddrivers. Does anyone have any advice, before I send my harddrive to Miniscribe over Christmas (6 wks. and duty on repair work?) Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
