#HAM-E / NewTek
NOTICE:
As of 12-07-1989, Black Belt Systems contacted NewTek regarding our HAM-E
product. Both voice and FAX (G3) infomation were exchanged. At this time,
Mark Randall of NewTek informed us via a return telephone call that NewTek
was "extremely interested" in the HAM-E and would like to be able to
support it, presuming that it worked as specified in the advance
information. We agreed that this was appropriate regarding our initial
contact, and put NewTek on the list for a developer unit.
On Friday, 12-15-1989, we sent an additional FAX to NewTek indicating the
improved specifications over the original ones;
Monday, 12-18-1989, we recieved another phone call from Mr. Randal, during
the course of which he indicated that NewTek "has something similar to this
under development" and "would be supporting their own unit" and "not
ours".he further indicated that this had been under development for quite
some time, specifically using the period "two years" in this discussion,
although not phrased in such a way as to clearly indicate that this was the
object that had been under development for this period of time.
We take this opportunity, then, to officially dissasociate ourselves, and
the HAM-E product from NewTek.
We have been asked to believe that Mr. Randal did not know that this
alleged other development effort has been ongoing, and so spoke out of
turn. You'll have to draw your own conclusions.
