Don, If you are saying that when you try to boot up, the HD lite comes on and stays on, then this is normally a symptom that you have the 50 pin SCSI cable hooked up backwards. You might try turning it over and trying it again. Having it hooked up backwards won't hurt anything. It just won't work. Every 3.5 SCSI HD I've seen runs very warm. It also makes a difference if you are running with the cover of your 2000 removed. The air flow is disrupted thru the machine and things do run a little hotter than normal, especially if you have several boards plugged in.
