#A3000 RAM upgrade easy?
What's involved in installing an extra 4M of RAM in an A3000? I know
what chips to buy (1M x 4, 80 ns, static-column, ZIP-format RAM) and I know
that when I install them I'll have to transfer the existing 1M of Fast RAM
over to the Chip side.
However, do I void my warranty by ding this myself? Is there anything
I have to do to make the machine recognize the memory properly? Is there
any soldering/desoldering involved, do I have to move jumpers, in a
nutshell: can I do it myself?
The reason I'm asking is that the best price I can get is $790 CDN.
— and that's when I buy an A3000 at the same time. Compare that with $475
US and doing it myself starts to look mighty attractive…
