#AMOS
Douglas,
I've tried (and still use) AMOS for about 3 months now. It *really* is
a powerfull programming environment! I've done 'bobs', 'sprites' and (not
least) hardware screen scrollings so easily that I've quit 'C' entirely for
graphics and related programming. Now I use 'C' only for utilities and
system related programming.
Have you tried the AMAL part of AMOS?? (This brings the other basics
back to AmigaBasic! 🙂 ). Tell me how you like it.
And yes, it's more than for just arcade games. Francois (the author)
created some pretty good utilities with it… like the config program and
some music conversion programs too.
BTW, I called Mandarin Software (in UK) about 2 weeks ago and they say
that the sales are going way higher than expected (much higher than STOS)
and that the compiler should be out within 2 months!! (boy, that's going
to hurt!! (grin)) . Also they are talking about the 3D Amos which will
allow you to create games (or utilities!) like StarGlider II etc.. Release
expected whithin 2 to 3 months. I'm looking forward to some amazing stuff
with AMOS.
