If you want S-Vhs or Hi-8 it's NOT easy with DCTV as it only has composite out If you use the Ham-E you can attach a true S-encoder (around $120) and get true S-video Resolution (over 400 lines when recorded, if you use DCTV throuh compsite expect 230 lines) and better color (reds and blues will smear much less). Digitizing? Well DCTV does indeed have the advantage there, but if you already have digiview, you can use it with the Ham-E directly with Black Belt's included software. BTW I have an NTSC and S-video encoder, S-video is much better to my Hi-8 than composite from DCTV (they let me record direct from it at a show) and I have some of the same pictures that they had at a show rendered in Ham-E , Ham-E wins hands down in Hi-8 format.
