I have an Amiga 500 with 1 meg of memory. I am interested in buying a Laser Printer and have looked at the Okilaser 400 (which emulates an HP Laserjet series II). In the Amigados 1.3 manual (on page 49) there is a description of the printer driver for the HP Laserjet which reads as follows: "HP_Laserjet (LaserJetPlus/LaserJet II compatible)" This description is sort of confusing, does this indicate that this printer driver supports a Laserjet Series II? Are there other more specific printer drivers available? I am using Excellence! 2.0 as my primary wordprocesser, Superbase, and using Workbench 1.3 with the printer drivers which are supplied on the Extras disk. Has anyone had any experience with either the HP Laserjet II or III, or the Okilaser 400? Which is a better buy in terms of supporting the fonts available with Excellence! 2.0? What is the meaning of "downloadable fonts" and "soft fonts" which is described in the laser printer manuals? Or does the Amiga NOT require the fonts that are sold with the laser printer in order to fully utilize the fonts available on Excellence! 2.0?
