And how! It is amazing how much better (some) VGA images of 320 x 200 look
compared to HAM of the same resolution. I have assumed that the smooth
transitions in the colors of the VGA were the reason. Although the VGA can
display only 256 colors compared to 4096, it can draw from a huge palette
and therefore render the image without the 'posterizing' effect seen in
Amiga HAM. I have seen some of these low resolution VGA images and at first
thought they were of 'photographic' quality. They were probably selected
for the potential to display well, but that does not diminish their
effectiveness. Increasing the actual resolution is of course an
improvement, but the smooth transition of the 'gray scale' factor makes an
amazing difference.
I can't wait to see a HAM-E image, and would really like to see the higher
resolution version.
