The way I see it (and why I went for the FC24), RGB is preferable for a
couple of reasons. One, when Impulse gets around to releasing their 24-bit
paint software, if you're doing graphics at 512 or 1024 horz. resolution,
you'll want RGB to keep from going blind. Two, adding a really good NTSC
encoder would likely add another $1K to the price of the board, and I'd
rather not have a cheap encoder on such a nice board. With RGB out, you
can use a transcoder to go (almost directly) to Betacam or M-II, or
whatever RGB-to-NTSC box you want.
One caveat: the FC24 is fussy about having good sync feeding the Amiga
genlock, if you are using one to go to video. If you have a *really
stable* genlock, you might be okay. I'm temporarily using a "vanilla"
SuperGen, and had to feed it blackburst to keep the NTSC output stable.
For those of you with a SuperGen-2000S: According to Progressive Image
Technology (the manufacturer), they will soon have an external case for the
board, so that you can have an external 2000S, with a separate power
supply. No word on price yet.
