Hello, William. Welcome to AmigaForum.
My first suggestion is that you ignore the manual's instructions on
settings and change to 8 bits, No parity, 1 stop bit. The manual is wrong
when it tells you to use 7 E-1. That should let you do some downloading. I
then suggest that the first thing you download is a better terminal program
such as JRCOMM or ACCESS from Library 5 of AmigaUser. You can find them
easily there, if you get to the Library 5! prompt and type: BRO KEY:JRCOMM
or BRO KEY:ACCESS.
If this does not get you going, or if you find that you have more
questions, please ask. It only takes a little while to become a pro at
this, but it is confusing at the start.
