I have a suggestion regarding the 24 bit file area. Given that the file sizes are as large as they are (big!), why don't we make sure that a small (IE 320×200) HAM image that shows what the 24 bit file contains in a rough way. That would help users determine which, if any, of the 24 bit files they are interested in. I downloaded both the Turbo "plain of spheres" and the Toaster "DeskTop" image… these took a long time (at $28/hr phone connect charges via Mountain Bell). "DeskTop" is very nice, given that it is an NTSC image; the other image, for me, was a total waste of time. It's fine – no problems – but it is not visually interesting, at least to me. A small HAM image would have told me which one I wanted, and saved me approximately 50 minutes of connect time. Also, there is a HAM animation in that library – why? Should that not be somewhere else? Lastly, I finally mailed a disk of 24 bit images to Steve Ahlstrom, so there should be some more 24 bit critters in there soon. Actually it was several disks. :^)
