It's also the "fault" of the Amiga's chip ram design… when running four bitplanes in hires the processors (any type of processor) access to the chip ram is severely limited; it can only get in there during sync and blanking – in other words, it spends a great deal of time waiting, and NOT updating anything. A faster processor really helps because it gets more done in the short time that the ram IS avaialable to it.
