#A3000 / 16Mhz — Junk?!?

The only drawback is that with an 040 accelerator card, you may have to lose the capability to boot back in 030 mode. Given the state of Amiga software compatibility with the 040, having the 030 as a backup is a must. The reason is that most 040 cards for the A3000 are 25Mhz. The 030 and 881 are soldered in and are not changable and are 16Mhz parts. It is ulikely that they would run at the faster speed as the clock on the acceleartor card will supply the clock for the motherboard. The other difference is that you get a 68882 math coprocessor with the 25Mhz version. I'd go for the 25Mhz version in a minute. You should have got one during the power-up deal. -Greg
