I'm trying to do some research regarding the compatibility between the various CD-Rom formats. I hear things like High-sierra standard, red book standard, Iso9660, and so on. I'm trying to get a better understanding of compatibility between the Mac and PC platforms. Is a CD-Rom drive Mac or PC specific? Or is it a matter of the same drive using a different interface? The other question would be about the disks themselves. Can I get a reference disk that would work on both Macs and PCs? I understand that a CD-Rom with executable code on it would be either Mac or PC, right? One final question. Is there a good periodical that would help me understand this stuff better?
