"I doubt that very few A3000-16 owners will care about the 9MHz difference
in speed until they can afford a REAL upgrade such as an '040 board."
Well, I'm one who would have. I specifically avoided the 3000/16 because I
knew that eventually I would want at _least_ a 25 Mhz processor, not
necessarily a "REAL upgrade such as an '040 board." You can upgrade an
A2000 to a 25, 28 or 33 MHz 68030 for about $1000. (Making the total cost
of CPU & accelerator around $2000), but an 040 equipped A3000/16 is going
to run close to $3500. As I said in my message, _I_ (read that as
IMHO…for my purposes) consider that a MAJOR flaw."
BTW, that 9MHz differenceis on the order of 5 times the performance over a
stock 68000 7.14MHz Amiga, and more than a 30% increase in performance over
a 16MHz 68030 A3000. I didn't consider that insignificant. But again, that
is how I approached MY purchase decision.
