Well, here are the facts. 2.0 is the new future for the Amiga. We can't
keep our heads stuck in yesterday, and bog down new technologies and new
ways of doing things.
Why should a developer even THINK of writing software for the people that
fit into either of the above categories? If you, as you say, can't *afford*
2.0, then you are likely NOT going to *BUY* any new software anyways. If
you have no *desire* to get 2.0, why should people like myself suffer from
your lack of desire?
2.0 has a lot of new features in it from a programming standpoint, that
simply cannot be made compatible with 1.3. I've made a good sized
investment in Commodore's newer technologies (A3000, multisync, etc) and
I'd like to start reaping the benefits of that newer technology. I'm of the
opinion that developers should plunge headlong into 2.0 ONLY software
ability (where it's merited…it's pointless to strip software of 1.3
compatibility if there is no advantage gained in doing so).
If a product can be made much better by going with 2.0 compatibility
exclusively, then they should do so. It will force people who just sit on
the fence when coming to a decision of whether to purchase 2.0 or not, to
go ahead and do it. Once they get it, they will be very glad they were
forced to do so. Anyways, 'nuff said.
